My training in woodblock has taken place largely in Oaxaca, Mexico starting in 2020. There, artists carve MDF-Medium Density Fiberboard. It does not have grain and can be purchased in a 4’ x 8’ sheet making it possible to create large images the size of the press bed. I’ve been fascinated with the theme of corn, especially teosinte, a species native to Mexico that over time became uniquely bred to each location in the Americas.
