Process photos

2023

In 2023 I was awarded a Resiliency Residency grant to explore the interconnections between self-portraiture and storytelling using printmaking. I created two large woodblock self portraits (40” x 48” each) that were printed on the Big Ink Press in Denver, CO, as a result of a selection process in March of 2022. The storytelling aspect of the two large woodblocks included words and images carved into the wood surface of the block around the self-portraits. A group of fifteen artists  assembled around the press to assist each other in the printing of our large blocks under the instruction and skill of Lyell Castonguay. Later that year, I completed an artist residency at ZeaMays in Florence, MA where I worked on Pronto plates using photos from my grandmother’s photo archive at Central Connecticut State University as inspiration for my prints.
